Wednesday August 26 | 1:10 – 2:00pm | 413 Todd Hall, WSU Pullman

On August 26, 2015 Christopher Williams, A researcher at the University of Mannheim, came to Washington State University to discuss EU integration. Williams has been collecting data to determine the role public opinion has on EU integration. The Lisbon Treaty was discussed and how it has changed public opinions about integration especially in relation to the new Early warning system. Williams further examined the public opinion of current member states to determine their attitudes toward potential expansion of the EU. Many Eastern European Countries are currently seeking entrance to the EU, including Turkey, but this has been a controversial issue due to their conflicting social, cultural, and political views.
