On October 3, Washington State Liquor and Cannabis Board Chief of Enforcement Justin Nordhorn addressed the topic of recreational Marijuana laws and enforcement practices. Nordhorn detailed how his agency maintains oversight of the sale of recreational marijuana. The agency is the regulator and “enforcement arm” for marijuana use in Washington State, which is based on a three-tier systems of manufacturers, distributors, and retail.

Nordhorn also discussed Washington State’s  “seed-to-sale” traceability system. Plants are tagged when they reach eight inches and that number will follow them throughout production. Pesticide use and advertisement of marijuana is also heavily regulated.
